The 0.5 percentage point VAT increase has been suspended. 

The ruling was made in the Western Cape High Court on Sunday afternoon following a legal challenge brought by the DA, with the EFF granted leave to intervene. 

The court also ordered Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana and parliamentary leaders to pay costs, pointing out mistakes in how the fiscal framework was adopted.
