The Roodepan police have arrested a 39-year-old motorist for culpable homicide, drunk driving, and reckless and negligent driving when he failed to stop at an accident scene after knocking down a teenage boy in Homelite, Kimberley, on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock said the accident occurred at about 14:30, when a Nissan Navara allegedly crashed into a pedestrian at a four-way stop at Seleke Street and Barkly Road, and drove off without stopping.
"[He] fail[ed] to stop at an accident scene after a 16-year-old boy was allegedly fatally bumped by a white Nissan Navara," said Kock.
