Convicted fraudster and former ANC Northern Cape bigwig John Block has been granted parole.
Former ANC Northern Cape chairperson John Block was granted parole after serving six years of his 15-year sentence for fraud and money laundering. On Friday, Correctional Services said the parole board considered Block's "meritorious service," including a diploma he obtained while behind bars.
The trio accused of orchestrating the 2020 Phala Phala game farm burglary will remain behind bars after the Bela-Bela Magistrate's Court on Friday reserved judgment in their bid for bail. Two of the accused signalled they would plead not guilty, and the State did not oppose their release.
