After a few false starts, the murder trial of Nafiz Modack and others, which is centred on the assassination of Anti-Gang Unit detective Charl Kinnear, is expected to begin on Monday, 11 March.

Modack and his brother, Yaseen, were holding out for a private lawyer, but eventually agreed to go with Legal Aid. Nafiz Modack was recently assigned Legal Aid lawyer Mohamed Sibda.

Sibda is now also on record for Yaseen, who held out until the bitter end, hoping to find money for a private lawyer.
