Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officials cleared a hijacked property in Bryanston, Johannesburg, of wendy houses and shacks during a raid on Thursday, and arrested the alleged hijacker.
The raid was the third conducted at the Grosvenor Road property, aside from the police’s visit to the premises on Sunday to warn those who were living there that it would be raided.
The house was hijacked in 2020 when the owner went on vacation to Cape Town, and, according to City of Johannesburg officials, 150 people were living there.
The alleged hijacker is known to News24 as Lawrence Ramalwa.
When it was first raided in November last year, it emerged that the main house had been divided into 33 dwellings and that there were 41 wendy houses in the garden.
