News24 | Coalition country: ANC wary of shaking hands with 'manipulators', prepared to sit on opposition benches

The ANC is wary of "manipulators" among political parties and will avoid trying to govern at all costs should the party's majority in provinces and nationally take a knock in the upcoming elections. 

The ANC's coalitions task team, set up to formalise its negotiations with other political parties, has prepared the party for the possibility of sitting on opposition benches, if it does not receive a majority. 

This is because coalition agreements with political parties, like the EFF, have forced the ANC's hand in coalition governments in municipalities across the country.
