The Eastern Cape's public healthcare facilities are faced with a dire shortage of nurses, but hundreds of qualified nurses in the province are sitting at home with no work.

The group claimed there were 300 qualified nurses in the Eastern Cape who were unemployed.

The nurses were funded by the provincial department during their studies.
