Less than a month after more than a thousand pupils in parts of the Eastern Cape were left stranded as they waited for their scholar transport in vain, the provincial government announced an interim budget relief of more than R100 million to solve the problem.
On Monday, more than R90 million was approved for the Department of Transport to provide efficient scholar transport services for the current academic year.
An additional R11 million has been budgeted for accruals.
