A fire has broken out at Tembisa Hospital, located on Flint Mazibuku Street in Tembisa, Gauteng.
Emergency services are currently on-site, working to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of people in the area.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson Eric Maloka said the scene was still active.
"There's still fire on scene and we haven't done any body count on injuries," he added.
Gauteng Department of Health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said the fire had broken out in the hospital's accident and emergency unit.
"Firefighters and our Gauteng Emergency Medical Services are on site attending to the situation. The reports we have is that all patients that were at the emergency unit have been safely evacuated into a safer area in the hospital," he said.
Residents and motorists have been urged to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to operate without obstruction.
Authorities also requested members of the public to use alternative routes and keep the scene clear of unnecessary traffic.
