A fire along Du Toitskloof Pass continues to rage, and firefighters are preparing to battle the blaze for a third day.
Cape Winelands District Municipality spokesperson Anesca Roodt said firefighting teams had made "great progress throughout the night" and had managed to contain two of the three fire lines.
She added that firefighting efforts had been aided by cooler weather during the night.
