A former Stellenbosch University (SU) official has been convicted of fraud charges in a case that's linked to former SA Rugby boss Jurie Roux.

The Bellville Specialised Commercial Crimes Court confirmed that Chris de Beer, the former deputy head of student fees at the university, pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced on Friday.

He was sentenced to correctional supervision and five years imprisonment, suspended for five years.
