A fire at Brandvlei prison has been contained.

A fire at Brandvlei Correctional Facility, which led to the evacuation of inmates to neighbouring correctional centres, has been contained, according to the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM).
However, mop-up and monitoring activities will continue on the prison grounds until the facility is deemed safe.
The wildfire spread to the prison grounds on Monday.
