Monneashia Prins went missing on Friday and was found in a canal in Ithemba Farms on Saturday.
Police in Kleinvlei, Cape Town, took a 19-year-old man in for questioning related to the kidnapping, rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl.
The girl's body was found dumped at Ithemba Farms.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the man was taken in on Thursday.
