Ex-Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane unlawfully received accommodation worth R3.7 million, spent R33.5 million of state funds on her futile impeachment defence, and wiped out her former office's legal budget with costs orders to the tune of R12 million – but she insists she's "owed" R10 million more.
Mkhwebane's lawyers threatened to sue the Office of the Public Protector if it didn't pay the R10 million gratuity, normally given to outgoing Public Protectors after they vacate office.
They had wanted the money by 13 December.
