More than one million South Africans registered during the second voter registration weekend, according to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
More than half a million voters registered on Saturday, the commission said.
By 13:00 on Sunday, a further 564 715 registrations had been recorded, both online and at 23 303 voting stations.
