A lightning strike to a Johannesburg transformer affected a major water pump from Rand Water on Sunday.

Another power outage at the Eikenhof pump station has again impacted water delivery in Johannesburg.
A lightning strike on City Power's transformer on Sunday morning impacted the power supply to Rand Water's Eikenhof system, which supplies greater Soweto, Roodepoort, Hursthill, Crosby and Brixton.
The station was pumping at total capacity again at 09:30 on Sunday, an hour after the electricity was restored, but the downtime has had a knock-on effect on major systems in Johannesburg.
