Murder-accused Werner de Jager appeared in the Amanzimtoti Branch court on Friday.

The Amanzimtoti Branch Court has classified the case against 45-year-old Werner de Jager as a Schedule 6 offence, meaning he must prove there are exceptional circumstances to warrant his release on bail.

De Jager is accused of killing his wife, Liezel, by slitting her throat while their two children were at the couple's home on 13 October 2021.

Liezel was a pastor at the NG Kerk Suid-kus.
