A Johannesburg magistrate has warned a prominent senior prosecutor and a senior Hawks investigator accused of corruption they may face harsher punishment should they be convicted in a R14 000 corruption case.

Magistrate Koos Pretorius warned Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court advocate Phuti Matabane, 47, and Hawks senior investigator Lieutenant-Colonel Lucky Thabethe, 54, during their bail application in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Friday.

They appeared with Daniel Benjamin Lessing, 44.
