What started as a night of fun for three couples, who partied and drank booze and a concoction of codeine-based cough syrup and soft drinks known as "lean", ended in tragedy when one of the men allegedly raped a woman and tortured another to death on Friday night.
A 28-year-old accused, who cannot be identified because he has not pleaded to the rape charge he is facing, was arrested after he handed himself over to the police on Sunday. The accused's girlfriend was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the murder.
Relebohile Mofokeng, 19, was collected from her home in Evaton, Sebokeng, for an evening of music, booze and fun.
