Nicaragua on Friday launched a new genocide action at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) – where it also intends to support South Africa's case against Israel – accusing Germany of involvement in genocide in Gaza.

Germany has "contributed to the commission of genocide", Nicaragua told the court in an initial filing, and has broken international law "by rendering aid or assistance and not preventing the illegal regime of apartheid and the negation of the right of self-determination of the Palestinian people."

Germany's crimes include providing "political, financial and military support to Israel fully aware at the time of authorisation that the military equipments [sic] would be used in the commission of great breaches of international law," Nicaragua charges.
