A Grade 1 pupil died in Gauteng on Tuesday, allegedly after consuming snacks from a spaza shop.

Disgruntled residents took to the streets on Wednesday and looted several foreign-owned shops in the Tsakane area of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.
The protests were sparked by the death of a Grade 1 pupil who died on Tuesday, allegedly after consuming biscuits from a spaza shop.
Emergency services arrived at Mandlethu Primary School in Tsakane before 11:00, and the pupil was declared dead.
