A sex worker escaped death after a client wanted to pick up her friend and not her. The decomposing body of her friend, Joyce Moyo, was recovered seven days later.

The sex worker, dubbed Miss A, told the Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Monday that she was working with three other sex workers, including the slain Moyo, along Goud Street in downtown Johannesburg, on 2 October 2022.

"I had operated along that street for three years before the incident," said Miss A.
