While the availability and quality of healthcare in KwaZulu-Natal has improved, vulnerable groups like sex workers, drug addicts, and members of the LGBTQ+ community are being denied access to medicine, clinics, and hospitals.

This according to a report published by Ritshidze, a community-led monitoring system developed by organisations like the Treatment Action Campaign, National Association of People Living with HIV, Positive Women's Network, and SA Network of Religious Leaders Living with and Affected by HIV/Aids.

Members of these "key population groups" complained healthcare staff remained hostile towards them and, as a result, they often struggled to access specific services they needed.
