Severe thunderstorms, strong winds, hail and excessive lightning are expected in parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu-Natal, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
Impact-based warnings
Yellow Level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms, leading to heavy downpours with localised flooding of susceptible roads, settlements, low-lying bridges/areas, and localised damage to infrastructure, are expected in parts of north-western KwaZulu-Natal, the Mpumalanga escarpment, as well as the central and escarpment regions of Limpopo.
These conditions will be accompanied by strong gusty winds, hail and excessive lightning.
Yellow Level 1 warning: Damaging coastal winds resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea are expected between Cape Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay.
In the SAWS’ colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness, while orange indicates that higher-risk impact is expected, requiring increased attention and preparation.
