Actress, Halima Abubakar, has said that supporting people with disabilities and children in Nigeria and Africa is the priority of her foundation.

At a recent charity event— the Halima Abubakar Foundation Appreciation Outreach— hosted by the thespian in Abuja, she reached out to over 2,000 people with disabilities in Abuja, by donating food items, wheelchairs, crutches and other relief items.

The actress noted that over the years, helping people in need had become a priority for her. She said, “The stories of many of the people living with disabilities are quite touching. While some of them were born with disabilities, others are victims of circumstances that could have been avoided. I am glad that most of them are not giving up on their dreams, and it is our responsibility to assist in making it a reality. Indeed, there is ability in disability.

“The Halima Abubakar Foundation outreach is prepared to extend its reach to every region in Nigeria, and other parts of the continent where there are more vulnerable people living with disabilities.”

The Emir of Karomajiji in Abuja, Suleiman Muhammad, who was present at the event, which was coordinated by the founder of the Goodwill Ambassador Agency, Chris Odey, commended Abubakar’s gesture, describing her as a woman of substance and loved by the people. This was even as he urged more celebrities to emulate her.
