Peter Okoye not involved in Jude’s case, management claims

A viral video featuring Paul Okoye, one-half of the music group P-Square, addressing the press at the arraignment of his older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, recently captured public attention. The event took place at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, February 28, 2025. Jude was arraigned on fraud-related charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

In the video, Paul accused his twin brother, Peter, of being responsible for Jude’s legal troubles. He said, “It is not about supporting him because I know the truth. And the truth is, unfortunately, the way the journalists are making it look like he is a fraud. Let’s call a spade a spade, Peter is the one putting Jude to this thing, simple. It is Peter that is doing this, putting him in prison, and I’m here to bring him out.”

In response to Paul’s claims, Saturday Beats reached out to Peter’s manager, Emem Kush, for a statement. She denied Peter’s involvement, stating, “I don’t know Peter is on this issue. And I don’t think he has any comment on this issue. The case is between the EFCC, based on their investigation, and Jude Okoye. I don’t see how Peter Okoye has anything to do with it. We have no comment on this matter. Peter didn’t drag anybody to the EFCC. The petition was against the company that has been receiving funds on his behalf. And he knew nothing about it. Don’t mix up issues, and let’s not create issues where they are not.”

When asked if there were any conditions tied to the case, she added, “The EFCC was the one that received all of this, so I think it’s best to speak to them to know the facts of the case, and their findings. I don’t represent the EFCC. I’m not spokesman for the EFCC. I’m not spokesman for either party, so I can’t tell you.”

On February 26, 2025, Jude Okoye, alongside his company, North Music Limited, was arraigned on a seven-count charge of money laundering involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

The feud between the Okoye brothers dates back to 2015, when tensions within P-Square became public. In 2017, the duo officially began pursuing solo careers. Fans remained hopeful for a reunion, especially after they collaborated on Jaiye and Find Somebody in 2022 and performed together publicly. However, in August 2024, Paul confirmed their split during an interview with City FM radio.

During the interview, Paul also alleged that Peter had petitioned both him and Jude to the EFCC, leading to their invitation for questioning. In response, Peter denied reporting Paul to the anti-graft agency but maintained that his petition was aimed at exposing the betrayal he suffered from Jude and his wife, Ifeoma.
