Juju music legend, Ebenezer Obey, is set to mark his 84th birthday with a two-day crusade scheduled to hold in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on March 25 and 26, 2026, from 4pm to 7pm daily.

The crusade themed “Thy Kingdom Come” will be held in conjunction with the Riye Council of Knights of Methodist Church Nigeria, Egba Diocese. It will also feature other gospel ministers including Esther Igbekele, Joseph Adelakun and Adegbemi Adewale, among others.

According to the veteran musician, the programme will also include outreach initiatives aimed at supporting underprivileged people as part of activities lined up to commemorate his birthday.

Obey explained that his 84th birthday, which falls on April 3, 2026, coincides with the Good Friday and Easter celebration period, hence his decision to keep the celebration low key this year.

He also expressed gratitude for the continued love and support he receives from fans, friends and associates across the world, while noting that he looks forward to marking a bigger milestone next year.

The juju maestro also stated that he would appreciate the usual goodwill, birthday support and congratulatory messages from well wishers across the world.

Popularly known as the “Chief Commander”, Obey is widely regarded as one of the pioneers who shaped modern juju music in Nigeria from the 1960s, producing several evergreen records that blended Yoruba proverbs, social commentary and rich instrumentation.

In recent years, the octogenarian has often marked his birthdays with thanksgiving services, gospel concerts and philanthropic activities.
